How does it work?

The Guru analyzes all your data, providing your users with extensive, sophisticated reporting capabilities at their fingertips, without requiring users to have any knowledge of the data structure. Tabular, summary, and cross-tab or matrix reports, with formatted outputs that meet your needs, can be created and then automatically delivered to the right people at all the right times.

The Guru is Orange Leap's open source reporting solution that is licensed under GPL v3 and built with the following goals in mind:

• Database independent -- supports any data source that hibernate supports
• Schema Independent
• End-user report wizard
• Maintain our open-source alignment by utiizing Jaspersoft's JasperServer, JasperReports, and iReport capabilities

The Guru is built upon a 'meta-data layer' that describes various attributes of your data model. By populating the 'meta-data layer' with information about your tables, views, stored procedures as well as their fields and field types we can pull reports from any database schema.

What does it mean?

It means no technical expertise, understanding of the schema, or programming skills are required -- there is no need to rely on your IT, administrators, or developers to create and run your reports!

The delivery and scheduling features allow users to: create an output format that is most appropriate for the audience and what you are trying to analyze; generate the data when it's needed; and deliver it to whomever you desire. Recipients do not need access to the application to take advantage of the reporting solution. Consider scheduling common reports or data that you review each day, such as recent new members or gifts, or recent elapsed members, and have them delivered right to your mailbox, ready for you each morning!

You can create simple one-time reports to find one or more specific records that you are looking for, or you can design and save frequently used reports in one of three different formats: tabular, summary, and matrix. In addition, you can export any report at the time of run or for scheduling, to an Adobe's® PDF or Flash formats, as well as Microsoft® Word and Excel xls and csv formats for printing and additional data analysis.
